Came across this error after deploying the latest build of orchard package on IIS.

Most likely causes:

• The file extension for the requested URL does not have a handler configured to process the request on the Web server.

Solution

The error occurred due to incorrect APPLICATION POOL selection in IIS.

Changed the Application Pool and pointed it to correct one.
