Office 2010 SP2 Installation Error ""The expected version of the product was not found on the system.""

I was installing office 2010 SP2 on a Win 7 32 bit machine and it kept on throwing the error as :
"The expected version of the product was not found on the system."

To overcome the issue, i ran the SP2 exe file from command prompt as follows:


c:\users\bugz\Downloads\officep2010.exe PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1


This solved the installation issue with Office 2010 SP2.

When i checked the office version installed to verify that its updated to "14.0.7015.1000", it was still not showing it.

So unfortunately installing SP2 using the above command is not the solution.

** Finally i went back to installed applications on my windows 7 32 bit machine. **

1. Uninstalled all the Office applications installed on the machine.
2. Rebooted the machine.
3. Installed Office 2010 in a different folder i.e. ..\..\Program Files\Office 2010 New
4. Installed the Package Office 2010 SP2 KB2687455.

This upgraded the office installation to version "14.0.7015.1000".
